Echo Land

by Daniel Phung, Natalie Linh Bolderston and Tuyet Van Huynh

Three British-Vietnamese-Chinese creatives confront their memories and identities using dance, poetry and film.

A multidisciplinary performance.

What does it mean to be members of the Vietnamese-Chinese diaspora in the UK? What does it feel like to grow up surrounded by both stories and silence? As artists working within different creative disciplines, Daniel Phung, Natalie Linh Bolderston and Tuyet Van Huynh address these questions by reflecting on their childhood and the experiences that shaped them. They consider the past on both a national and personal scale, exploring cultural history and folk tales alongside family stories and personal traumas. As Daniel,Natalie and Tuyet tease out the threads that draw us together, the audience is invited to consider their own experiences through creative interaction. Bringing together dance, poetry and short films, Echo Land is an immersive journey through memory that confronts moments of darkness and joy, and shows us how we can move towards celebration and healing.
